Growler 115V, 50-60 HZ, Meter

A quality instrument for locating shorts, open circuits and grounds in armatures from 1/2″ to 8″ in diameter. The unit has a built-in meter for checking reverse coils, defective windings, etc. Shipped with iron-insert block for testing smaller armatures down to 1/2″ in diameter.

The “Short” Test: Like the model 2530 Growler, the “feeler” method is used for short circuit testing.
The “Open” test: Broken windings may be determined by placing the armature on the pole pieces and touching the test prods to adjacent commutator bars or coil ends.
The “Ground” Test: One test prod is held to the commutator bar and the other to the shaft or metal core. A grounded coil or commutator bar will be indicated by a glow of the lamp. Demagnetizing: These growlers may also be used to magnetize or de-magnetize tools or other objects.
